Lymph nodes are small glands needed to filter fluid from the lymphatic system. Lymphadenopathy is a palpable enlargement of a lymph node with a diameter of more than 1 cm. Etiology includes infectious and autoimmune diseases, malignant neoplasms, lymphoproliferative disorders, and taking certain medications. Lymphadenopathy can be generalized and localized. Often, patients are unaware of enlarged lymph nodes and lymphadenopathy is detected by a doctor during an objective examination. Generalized lymphadenopathy, with lesions 2 or more groups of lymph nodes may indicate an underlying cancer or systemic disease. The article presents a case of generalized lymphadenopathy of unknown etiology, which was accompanied by polyserositis and other clinical manifestations indicating the presence of an underlying oncological or systemic disease.
